Information Prescriptions - the latest (updated 8th January 2013)
The aim of an Information Prescription (IP) is to help you as a patient manage your care more effectively, to help you stay more independent and to feel more in control. Information is also available on the system for carers.
The IP system gives access to patient information from reliable sources (such as national charities, hospitals and hospices) which is accurate, up to date and should be easy to read and understand.
IPs ensure that you have the right information at the right time during their cancer pathway to help you make informed decisions about your treatment and care.
The Information Prescription Services (IPS) hosted by NHS Choices is a web based resource and can be found here. Please click here for a guide to using the system.
The IPS can also assist Health and Social Care Professionals with tailoring and personalising the information given to patients.
The final report following the end of the official rollout can be found here and a signposting and guidance document for future use of the IP system here.
