Principles of Care for People with Cancer
This leaflet is aimed at cancer patients, their carers and the healthcare professionals caring for them. The leaflet is based on two important foundations – that of high quality clinical care that patients and their familiescan expect, and the value which is placed on working in partnership with the patient. The leaflet includes sections regarding communication, information, involvement in decision making, discussions about treatment options, care plans and quality of life, controlling symptoms, nutrition,complementary therapies, discharge and rehabilitation, the hospital environment, and clinical trials.The leaflet also includes a glossary of terminology used and contacts for your local PALS (Patient Advice Liaison Service).
